Killing The Church In India

If you’re reading this, and you’re thinking about watching the video, I would strongly encourage you to pray before doing so. Regardless of what you believe, it will be unbearably painful. There are no words to describe what has happened and what is happening in Orissa, India. The persecution is heavy, and it is absolutely real. It is absolutely real.
The first wave of organized attacks against Christians occurred in Orissa in December of 2007. This aggression was followed by even more widespread violence in August 2008 following the murder of a well-known religious leader. What these outbursts had in common was that both assaults were orchestrated by anti-Christian elements within fundamentalist Hindu political parties. And in both cases, neither local, state nor national governments intervened to stop the killings.
In the 2008 attacks, more than 500 Christians were killed and some 50,000 were driven into the jungles. At least 5,000 Christian homes were destroyed, and dozens of churches were ransacked or burned out. There were also reports that several dozen Christian women were sexually assaulted and more than 40 shops owned by Christians were looted.

You know how much persecution and suffering I have endured. You know all about how I was persecuted in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra—but the Lord rescued me from all of it. Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

Makes you think what we have done for the kingdom… have we just rested on our blessings or are we using our blessings to bless others
H.
Thanks, man. I’ve been thinking about this a lot even before, and now my thoughts have been pushed to a whole new level. I appreciate your insights. Too many times I rest on the blessings I have been given, not even questioning whether that’s how I am actually supposed to be living.
Too bad the videos have been removed. Still, the level of hate that is available in the world and that can be reduced to violence so quickly never ceases to amaze me. The reasons are so often simply about power, influence, and the fear of losing it. So much of the Hindu population fears the rise of elements that could challenge their hold on the political environment in India, and this is the sad result.

Yeah, I’m not sure why the videos were taken down. Regardless, you’re right, the caste system and societal and religious restrictions/traditions being placed/forced upon the people of India are so sad.
