Speak Publicly
I love public speaking. I know this seems abnormal (just where I want to be!), but I really enjoy speaking in front of a crowd. There are few greater opportunities then having the chance to share with an attentive crowd what it is that empowers you, what you’re passionate about. Think about it. When else do you have the opportunity to impact so many people with what you have to say in a face to face setting? Public speaking is a great tool. It allows people to see you for who you are because it allows you the opportunity to genuinely show yourself to your audience. The speaking stage is where many of the worlds greatest leaders are unveiled. Words inspire. Words, accompanied by the man or woman saying them, have the potential to both inspire and empower.

First, if you have the opportunity to speak in public (in any form) take advantage of it! Do not hesitate if asked to speak publicly. Give your opinion. Volunteer to lead the group discussion. Speak up for your co-workers during the afternoon business meeting. Join Toasty’s. Always be prepared to speak. Never back down from an opportunity to reach a large crowd, in person. Second, if you give a public speech, ask someone to evaluate you and give you feedback on your performance. The great thing about public speaking is that we all have at least one strength (she has good hand gestures, for example). Therefore, there is always something foundational to build upon, and there is always something to get better at! If you are someone who enjoys seeing progress, become adept at speaking in public and refining your public speaking skills.
