Indy Metro

Recently, we have had the opportunity to visit many churches in the Indianapolis area.  When Quinn and I first got married in June we sat down and made a list of dreams and certain short term goals that we wanted to accomplish once we arrived in Indianapolis.  Some things on this list included finding a place to take salsa dance lessons, join a running club, run a marathon in Indianapolis, acquire World Cup tickets for 2010 in S. Africa, get licensed as real estate brokers, go on a missions trip, start a new business, learn a new language and find a great church.  While not every item on this list has been satisfied in the past two months, many are well on there way and some will be dealt with in the near future.  In searching out a new church we pretty much let our hearts and google do the talking!  Google searches for Indy churches turned up several different chances for Sunday explorations, some good and some not so good.

While I won’t mention any of the not so good ones, I will mention one of the so far good ones that Quinn and I truly enjoyed (so good we actually went back-to-back weeks!).  The name of the church is Indy Metro Church and they meet in the old American Cabaret theatre right on Mass Ave on Sunday mornings at 10:30am.  I will share with you the one thing that this church did that the other 5 or 6 churches we visited did not.  They connected.  Here is what I mean.  It’s very simple.  From the moment we walked in the door there was someone who was interested in connecting with us, and throughout the past week we have received emails, text messages and phone calls from people within the church, including leadership, who continued to reach out and connect with us.  I have to say that Indy Metro Church is the most connected church I have ever been to.  It is great to see a church using both its people and technology as sources of networking and connecting with the people of Indianapolis.  A big thanks to Aaron Story for his time and energy in getting ahold of me and helping Quinn and I learn more about Indy Metro.
